Overview

An official Census 2011 detail of East Godavari, a district of Andhra Pradesh has been released by Directorate of Census Operations in Andhra Pradesh. Enumeration of key persons was also done by census officials in East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh.

Population

In 2011, East Godavari had population of 5,154,296 of which male and female were 2,569,688 and 2,584,608 respectively. In 2001 census, East Godavari had a population of 4,901,420 of which males were 2,459,640 and remaining 2,441,780 were females. East Godavari District population constituted 6.09 percent of total Maharashtra population. In 2001 census, this figure for East Godavari District was at 6.43 percent of Maharashtra population.

Population Growth Rate

There was change of 5.16 percent in the population compared to population as per 2001. In the previous census of India 2001, East Godavari District recorded increase of 7.93 percent to its population compared to 1991.

Density of Population

The initial provisional data released by census India 2011, shows that density of East Godavari district for 2011 is 477 people per sq. km. In 2001, East Godavari district density was at 454 people per sq. km. East Godavari district administers 10,807 square kilometers of areas.

Literacy Rate

Average literacy rate of East Godavari in 2011 were 70.99 compared to 65.48 of 2001. If things are looked out at gender wise, male and female literacy were 74.51 and 67.52 respectively. For 2001 census, same figures stood at 70.00 and 60.94 in East Godavari District. Total literate in East Godavari District were 3,288,577 of which male and female were 1,716,933 and 1,571,644 respectively. In 2001, East Godavari District had 2,807,728 in its district.

Sex Ratio


With regards to Sex Ratio in East Godavari, it stood at 1006 per 1000 male compared to 2001 census figure of 993. The average national sex ratio in India is 940 as per latest reports of Census 2011 Directorate. In 2011 census, child sex ratio is 968 girls per 1000 boys compared to figure of 978 girls per 1000 boys of 2001 census data.

Child Population


In census enumeration, data regarding child under 0-6 age were also collected for all districts including East Godavari. There were total 522,054 children under age of 0-6 against 613,490 of 2001 census. Of total 522,054 male and female were 265,244 and 256,810 respectively. Child Sex Ratio as per census 2011 was 968 compared to 978 of census 2001. In 2011, Children under 0-6 formed 10.13 percent of East Godavari District compared to 12.52 percent of 2001. There was net change of -2.39 percent in this compared to previous census of India.

Urban Population

Out of the total East Godavari population for 2011 census, 25.49 percent lives in urban regions of district. In total 1,313,972 people lives in urban areas of which males are 647,395 and females are 666,577. Sex Ratio in urban region of East Godavari district is 1030 as per 2011 census data. Similarly child sex ratio in East Godavari district was 968 in 2011 census. Child population (0-6) in urban region was 126,976 of which males and females were 64,514 and 62,462. This child population figure of East Godavari district is 9.97 % of total urban population. Average literacy rate in East Godavari district as per census 2011 is 80.78 % of which males and females are 84.62 % and 77.07 % literates respectively. In actual number 958,816 people are literate in urban region of which males and females are 493,239 and 465,577 respectively.

Rural Population

As per 2011 census, 74.51 % population of East Godavari districts lives in rural areas of villages. The total East Godavari district population living in rural areas is 3,840,324 of which males and females are 1,922,293 and 1,918,031 respectively. In rural areas of East Godavari district, sex ratio is 998 females per 1000 males. If child sex ratio data of East Godavari district is considered, figure is 968 girls per 1000 boys. Child population in the age 0-6 is 395,078 in rural areas of which males were 200,730 and females were 194,348.
